MILWAUKEE, WI (March 14, 2022) – Harley-Davidson racers and teams successfully opened the 2022 competition season at events held in conjunction with the 81st Annual Bike Week in the Daytona Beach, Fla., region this past weekend. The defending champion Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory racing team launched its MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers title defense with two races at Daytona International Speedway. The 2022 Progressive American Flat Track series opened its season at Volusia Speedway in Barberville, Fla., with Harley-Davidson racers competing in two classes.

Racing for the first time on the demanding 3.56-mile, 12-turn Daytona International Speedway road course, the Mission King of the Baggers (KOB) series featured race-prepared American V-Twin touring motorcycles reaching speeds of close to 170 mph while drafting on the high-bank oval portion of the course. Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory racing team put riders Kyle Wyman, the 2021 Mission King of the Baggers champion, and his brother Travis Wyman aboard all-new race-prepared Harley-Davidson® Road Glide® Limited motorcycles powered by modified Screamin’ Eagle® Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight® 131 Performance Crate Engines.

The team opened the series on March 11 with good results as Travis Wyman finished second and Kyle Wyman was third. Vance & Hines Racing rider Tayler Knapp was fifth and Trask Race Team rider Shane Narbonne sixth on their race-prepared Harley-Davidson Road Glide bikes.

In the second KOB race on March 12 Travis Wyman finished in fifth place while Kyle Wyman did not finish after his motorcycle suffering a mechanical problem on lap 3. Vance & Hines Racing rider James Rispoli was fourth and Knapp finished in sixth place.

“This weekend was a real learning experience for the team,” said Kyle Wyman. “I think we came away with some valuable data and set-up ideas that will serve us well over the rest of the season. We have five races and plenty of points left on the schedule.”

After the first two races of the Mission King of the Baggers series, Travis Wyman sits in third place in season standings with 31 points. Kyle Wyman is in sixth place with 16 points. The Mission King of the Baggers teams next race April 22-24 in the MotoAmerica Superbikes event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.

Kyle and Travis Wyman are the sons of Kim Wyman, owner of Harv’s Harley-Davidson in Macedon, N.Y. and grew up around Harley-Davidson and flat track racing.
